Kacey’s year? Somewhere over the rainbow
Kacey Musgraves, the Wood County native singer-songwriter, capped a banner year with a pair of awards from the Country Music Association last week in Nashville.
She won female vocalist of the year as well as music video of the year for “Rainbow.”
Musgraves was also a nominee for song of the year, also for “Rainbow” with Natalie Hemby and Shane McAnally.
She was one of the performers on the televised awards show, a duet with Willie Nelson, singing “Rainbow Connection.”
Earlier this year Musgraves brought home four Grammy awards for album of the year, best country song, best country album and best country solo performance. That makes six Grammys for her career.
At the Academy of Country Music awards, she started off the year winning album of the year and female vocalist of the year.
Her previous CMA wins include new artist of the year in 2013 and song of the year in 2014. She won album of the year at last year’s CMAs.
