Kiwanis chili benefit Saturday

Posted

The Mineola Kiwanis club is having its eleventh annual chili cook-off Saturday, Feb. 22. From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Mineola First United Methodist Church Ministries Center on Newsom St. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from Kiwanis members or at the door.

Celebrity judges will award the best tasting chili and the best looking booth, and attendee votes will decide the People’s Choice Award. The booth with the most tips will also receive an award. To add to the vote, drop cash in the bucket. To deduct from the vote, drop coins in the bucket.

A selection of desserts will be available for $1 per slice. Cakes and pies will be for sale, and special desserts made my local chefs will be auctioned live. A silent auction will feature unique items.

All proceeds from the chili cook-off benefit children of Wood County through the service efforts of Mineola Kiwanis.

Kiwanis International serves the children of the world. Locally, the Mineola Kiwanis maintains youth service clubs at Alba-Golden High School, Mineola Elementary, Mineola Middle School and Mineola High School.
