Kiwanis chili cookoff features first responders

Friday, April 23 will be the last chance to taste great chili of area cooks. In this case they will be first responders from around the area competing to see whose chili is the best. First responders include fire departments from Alba, Mineola, Hainesville, Lands End and UT Health East Texas EMS.

Doors open for the public at 6 p.m. at the Mineola Civic Center with admission of $5. Sliced desserts will be available for $1. The public will decide the “People’s Choice” award with their tips for best tasting chili. Celebrity judges will decide on “Best Tasting Chili” and “Best Looking Booth.”

In addition, a silent auction with lots of great items and a live dessert auction will be held. Tickets may be purchased at the door or from members of the Mineola Kiwanis Club.
