Lady Bulldogs’ lose five-setter
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs roared back from losing the first two sets against Wills Point before being defeated 10-15 in the fifth set.
Class 4A Wills Point took the first two sets 18-25 and 24-26. Quitman came back in the third set to win a close one 25-23. The Lady Bulldogs put it all together in the fourth set and won going away 25-19 before falling 10-15.
Quitman was led by Ava Burroughs 18 kills, 11 assists, five aces, six digs and three blocks. Carley Spears added 25 assists, six digs and seven kills; Alexis O’Neal 14 digs and four aces; and Lucy Brannon nine digs and five kills.
The Lady Bulldogs fell to Beckville, which is 15-2, in three games Friday by scores of 16-25, 20-25 and 13-25. Quitman is 5-8 on the year heading into district action.
After playing at Harmony Tuesday to open district Quitman will be at home against Mineola Friday.
