The Quitman Lady Bulldogs volleyball team faced a busy week on the court, taking on the Eustace Bulldogs on Tuesday, Sept. 23 and the Winona Wildcats on Friday, Sept. 26. Quitman battled hard in both matches, falling to Eustace in a five-set heartbreaker before bouncing back with a dominant sweep over Winona.

Against Eustace, the Lady Bulldogs started strong but dropped the first two sets 25-22 and 25-17. Refusing to go down quietly, Quitman rallied to take the next two sets 26-24 and 25-16, forcing a deciding fifth set. Despite their comeback effort, Eustace pulled ahead late to win the final set and the match 15-9.

Erin Vanderschaff earned player of the game for her all-around performance, finishing with 23 digs, 18 assists, 10 kills and 6 aces.

Quitman didn’t let the tough loss slow them down. When they hosted the Winona Wildcats later in the week, the Lady Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders, sweeping Winona in three quick sets, 25-11, 25-2, and 25-9.

Jackalyn Alcorn and Kaylin Sapp were named the offensive players of the game. Alcorn posted 8 kills with an impressive .636 hitting percentage, while Sapp delivered 31 serves with 4 aces, a 96.8% serving rate and 14 assists.
