Lady Bulldogs stop Chapel Hill
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs defeated Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill Friday afternoon 3-1 to clinch a playoff spot. With the win, the Lady Bulldogs are 5-2 in District 13-3A action and ahead of the fourth place team by four games with three to go.
Quitman took the first set 25-18 and lost the second set 23-25. The Lady Bulldogs regrouped to take the next two sets 25-20 and 25-20.
Seniors Ava Burroughs and Brooklyn Marcee each hit for double figures in kills. Burroughs had 20 kills and nine digs while Marcee had 10 kills and 11 digs along with a pair of aces. Carley Spears had another fine all-around effort with 34 assists, 11 digs, one kill and an ace. Alexis O’Neal added 11 digs, one kill and two aces. Sophomore Ashley Davis also had a good showing with six kills, three aces and three digs. Kaysi Parker had five kills and four digs while Maddy Pence came through with two kills, four aces and three digs. Addison Marcee added five digs.
After facing Mt. Vernon Tuesday the Lady Bulldogs will be at home Friday against Winona and host Harmony next Tuesday in the season finale.
