Lady Bulldogs sweep past Liberty Eylau
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs finished the non-district schedule with a victory over Class 4A Liberty Eylau 25-17, 25-16, 25-12 to move their season record to 13-11. Quitman took control early and swept past the Lady Leopards with a dominating win.
For Quitman Ava Burroughs had five digs, two aces and eight kills; Carley Spears five digs, 20 assists, and two kills; Alexis O’Neal nine digs and three aces; Brooklyn Marcee three digs and eight kills; Maddy Pence four aces and two kills; Kaysi Parker one kill and one block; Ashley Davis two digs, one ace and five kills; and Addison Marcee two digs.
After opening district play at Mineola Friday, the Lady Bulldogs took on state-ranked Mt. Pleasant at home Tuesday followed by another home contest Friday taking on state-ranked Mt. Vernon with the varsity starting at 4:30 p.m.
Two strong teams in Class 3-A District 13 are Harmony and Mt. Vernon. Harmony is ranked as the third team in Class 3A. Harmony is at 19-1 going into district play. Mt. Vernon comes in the state poll at 23rd as district begins for all teams.
