The Quitman Lady Bulldogs blasted Kemp 15-0 in district action last Tuesday in a home contest. The Lady Bulldogs scored early and often getting 10 runs in the first inning and five in the second frame to lead 15-0 after two innings. Quitman currently has a 1-1 record in district.
Hannah Baucom gave up one hit while striking out three in earning the win on the mound for Quitman. Baucom also went 2-2 at the plate, scored two runs and had a pair of RBI. Ashley Richey was also 2-2 while teammates Madalyn Spears, Makayla Mitchell and Kynlee Love each added hits for Quitman. Kemp had just the one hit and committed eight errors in the contest.
Quitman Head Coach Chris Veach was pleased with the win. “The girls came out and were patient at the plate. We benefitted from several walks, but also hit the ball really well,” Veach noted. “We’ve had our struggles at times and it was nice to come out and take care of business.”
Quitman is at home Friday to take on Eustace at 6 p.m.
