Lady Bulldogs win one of four games in Union Grove tourney
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs continued their search for offense this past weekend at the Union Grove Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs went 1-3 at the tournament, beating Paul Pewitt but falling to Beckville, Como-Pickton and Hughes Springs.
“Offensively we struggled this weekend,” Coach Blake Hamrick said. “I thought we did some good things defensively at times, but we couldn’t put four full quarters together. We are nowhere near where we need to be yet, but I’m hoping going 1-3 this weekend against some teams we felt like we should have beaten will be a good wake up call. The girls know what we need to do and now it’s just a matter of getting it done.”
In a 41-27 win over Pewitt, the Lady Bulldogs led 19-18 at the half and broke the game open in the second half outscoring Pewitt 22-9 to take the win. Kaysi Parker had 18 points and six rebounds while Maddy Pence scored 12 points and seven caroms. Reiny Luman added seven points and eight rebounds while Ashley Davis contributed 10 rebounds.
After a Thanksgiving break game at home against Grand Saline Tuesday, the Lady Bulldogs will host Grace Community at home Nov. 30.
