Lady Hawks dominate Carlisle


The Lady Hawks continued their sold play in district with a wire-to-wire victory over the Carlisle Lady Indians winning 66-25 Friday night in Hawkins.

 The Lady Hawks held an early lead at 5-4 when Raeli Smith hit her first three of the game. Hawkins’ Christian Harris played a great overall game as she got off to a hot start scoring five straight points to give Hawkins a 10-6 toward the end of the first quarter. Hawkins then closed the quarter in style as Silvia Montgomery hit a jumper just before the buzzer giving Hawkins a 13-7 lead.

 Harris then got back in to the offensive rhythm as she scored four more points in the opening minutes of the second quarter. The Lady Hawks then extended their lead to nine at 18-9. Hawkins’ Harlie Conover then hit a three to give Hawkins a 29-14 lead. Montgomery then hit another long jumpshot and Emily Moor added another score for the Lady Hawks to close the first half. Hawkins then took a 33-14 lead to the locker room.

 In the third quarter Hawkins got their scoring going when Jaycee Chesire scored with a layup, then Conover scored again on back-to-back layups as Hawkins led 41-18. After a score by Carlisle the Lady Hawks went on a 6-0 run to close the frame. The Lady Hawks led 49-20 at the end of three quarters.

 The Lady Hawks then cruised to a 41-point victory. Raeli Smith led Hawkins in scoring with 14 points Harris scored 13 points and Montgomery scored 12 points. Both Harris and Montgomery came off the bench for their solid performances.
