Lady Jackets beat S&S Consolidated to advance in state softball playoffs
The Mineola Lady Jackets will meet an old nemesis, the Rains Ladycats, in the regional softball quarterfinals Friday, May 10. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Whitehouse High School.
Mineola advanced to the regional playoff after a convincing 8-1 win Friday, May 3 over the S&S Consolidated Lady Rams. Once again, Mineola ace Anna Westberry enjoyed a stellar night. She recorded 11 strike outs and one-hit the Lady Rams.
Mineola played a disciplined game, committing no errors and spreading six hits over seven innings. Emily Wiley and Breanna Wilmoth each chalked up two hits.
Mineola and Rains met twice during district play with Rains taking both games: a 9-0 win March 12, and 7-1 win April 5.
