Alba-Golden earned a Silver Bracket championship last weekend at the Hughes Springs volleyball tournament.
The Lady Panthers overcame losses to Liberty Eylau and Wolfe City in their first two matches before rattling off four wins in row. Alba-Golden ended day one with a win over Linden-Kildare and continued that momentum with victories over Ore City, DeKalb and ETHC.
The Mineola Lady Jackets likewise had a slow start at the Van Tournament. They dropped their first two matches, against Bullard and Mt. Pleasant, before rallying to defeat Chapel Hill and New Boston in Saturday’s play.
Alba-Golden also defeated Union Grove 25-17, 25-15, 19-25, 25-20 in a match at home last Tuesday.
The Lady Jackets will host the Lady Panthers on Tuesday, Aug. 30 with varsity expected to commence play at 6:30 p.m.
