Mineola High School’s Lady Jackets placed fourth in their pool in the Wills Point Tournament this weekend and their coach believes the games aren’t reflecting what they’re capable of.
In the Wills Point Tournament the Lady Jackets placed fourth in their pool, losing to Wills Point, Kaufman and Greenville.
“The scoreboard didn’t show some of the good that we did,” Coach Kerry VanCleave said.
In bracket play on Saturday they played their first game against Van and lost in two. “Not a good start,” VanCleave said. The Lady Jackets proceeded playing Princeton and lost in 3 – 24-26, 25-21 and 13-25.
“We had a chance to take care of business in the first set and we did not. Came back strong in the second set and third set was a struggle. We have to find the consistency that we need and not be a fair weather team. We have to be able to work through the good and the bad… while finding a way to finish. Several of our younger kids stepped up and showed lots of improvement and things are getting there but we have to find ways to finish when we have the opportunity,” VanCleave said. She added, “No question about it the potential is there.”
The Lady Jackets fell last Tuesday night to Westwood in three.
This week the JV teams and varsity play in Brownsboro Tuesday, after Monitor press time at 5 p.m.
