Lady Panthers drop five-set match to Edgewood Bulldogs


The Alba-Golden lady Panthers volleyball team lost their district opener to the Edgewood Bulldogs in five sets Friday at home to start district 0-1.

In a hotly contested five-set match both teams took turns sending counter shots with neither team winning consecutive sets in the match. With scores of 15-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17 and the final set was won in sudden death (win by two style) 14-16 by the Bulldogs.

Outside hitter Ginny Carson led the Panthers with 18 kills, three blocks and nine digs. 

Outside hitter Kenzie Chadwick had 17 kills and two digs. 

Aspen Howard had 33 assists and 15 digs. 

Setter Bralee Littlejohn had two assists, two aces and 10 digs.

With the loss Alba-Golden is now 13-13 overall for the season.

The Lady Panthers will host Quitman on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
