It was not a good night for the Alba-Golden Lady Panthers in their 60-22 district loss to Rains Friday. A Jordan Barnhart three-point shot gave Alba-Golden an early 3-0 lead, but two quick buckets by the Lady’ Cats gave Rains a 4-3 lead they would not relinquish.

Lady Panthers fall to Emory Rains in district play
It was not a good night for the Alba-Golden Lady Panthers in their 60-22 district loss to Rains Friday. A Jordan Barnhart three-point shot gave Alba-Golden an early 3-0 lead, but two quick buckets by the Lady’ Cats gave Rains a 4-3 lead they would not relinquish.
The teams traded buckets in the first quarter which ended with Rains leading 10-7. The Rains press forced numerous turnovers by the Lady Panthers in the second quarter as the Lady ‘Cats went on a 20-4 run to give them a halftime advantage of 30-11.
Rains continued with the defensive pressure in the third quarter, holding the Lady Panthers to just one free throw by Bella Crawford and took a 43-12 lead into the final quarter. Alba-Golden never quit fighting and had a decent fourth quarter scoring 10 points.
Kallie Wright had eight points for the Lady Panthers with Crawford hitting for seven, Barnhart five and Cacie Lennon two. After a Tuesday night bye, the Lady Panthers host district leading and state-ranked Mineola Friday.
