Lady Panthers’ fourth-inning explosion leads to playoff win

The Alba-Golden Lady Panthers softball team put together an all-around complete game as they beat the Sunnyvale Lady Raiders 10-4 in their bi-district (first round) playoff game held Thursday in Quinlan.

The Lady Panther offense was hot from the outset of the game as the team scored a run in both the first and third innings taking a 2-0 lead, then scored five runs in the fourth inning, after Sunnyvale had tied the game at two runs apiece in the top of the fourth inning.

After four frames the Lady Panthers held a 7-2 lead but Sunnyvale responded scoring two more runs in the fifth inning. However A-G’s offense proved to be too much as the team scored another three runs in the sixth inning as they won 10-4.

Offensively A-G was led by Bralee Littlejohn and Lindsey Roberts. Both players had three hits apiece as Littlejohn also had a game-high five RBI. Ashlyn Rodgers also had a solid game as she racked in two RBI as well.

Littlejohn was also solid on the mound as she pitched all seven innings, throwing 22 first-pitch strikes, striking out four batters, while allowing six hits and four runs.
