Lake Country Playhouse offers holiday fun

Posted

Start your Christmas season off right with a heapin’ helpin’ of holiday humor provided by Mineola’s Lake Country Playhouse. “Christmas Belles,” directed by Randy Parrish, is set in the East Texas town of Fayro and brings together the Futrelle sisters, last seen on stage in 2010’s production of Dearly Beloved.

In the days leading up to Christmas, the program at The Tabernacle of the Lamb is in danger of spiraling out of control in spite of the best efforts of Honey Raye Futrelle. Her sister Frankie is overdue with her second set of twins, and other sister Twink is in jail for inadvertently burning down half the town. Throw in a mixture of family secrets, add a surly Santa, along with a reluctant Elvis impersonator and a nativity sheep with a mind of its own and you have a recipe for nonstop laughter.

In the cast are Tonya Slayton, Dawn Goldthorn and Crystal Arcand as the Futrelle sisters; Kay McEntire; Courtney Titsworth; Chuck Fitts; Jeff Hurley; Robin Martin; Daniel Robinson; Wesley Johnstone and Luane Chancellor.

Performances are Nov. 29 and 30, and Dec. 1, 6, 7 and 8. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees starting at 2 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for students. The box office opens one hour prior to the show and doors 30 minutes prior. The opening night performance always features a gala with light refreshments before the play starts that are available to all patrons, not just season ticket holders. Call 903-569-2300 to make your reservations.

Lake Country Playhouse performs all its shows at the Historic Select Theater, 114 N. Johnson St. in Mineola.
