Lady Jackets shut out Quitman, 10-0
Mineola’s Sydnie Bell blanked Quitman last Friday evening limiting the Lady Bulldogs to just one hit in a 10-0 win. Madalyn Spears was the only Quitman player to get a base hit.
Mineola was led at the plate by Hannah McKinney’s 3-3 night with a run scored and two RBI while Izzy Treska was 3-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Eden Trent added a triple in going 3-3 and had three RBI. Brie McCalla went 2-2, was hit by a pitch and scored three runs.
Quitman was plagued by four errors in the contest. “We just never got our bats going. Mineola hit the ball real well and kept pressure on our defense all night,” Quitman coach Chris Veach said. “We were really disappointed in only coming away with one hit. Hopefully, the bats will wake up Monday night against Eustace.”
The Lady ‘Jackets end their regular season with a game at Alba-Golden Tuesday after the Monitor has gone to press in a game with huge playoff implications for both teams. Playoffs will begin with bi-district battles next week.
