It was a beautiful week to fish Lake Fork TX. The weather cooled down which helped keep the water temperatures in the lower 80’s. Even though we had some rain this week, the water clarity is great for Bass fishing. Now that we are through the Big Bass Splash, we can get into some good Bass and Crappie fishing. This week we caught many of our Bass in less than 6 foot of water in the grass. The two baits that worked the best for us were the Gary Yamamoto smoke/black/blue/chartreuse Senko and a Zoom Japanese Bluegill Trick Worm. The Senko was rigged on a standard Texas rig with an Eagle Claw LO45 worm hook and a 3/16-ounce black South Bend bullet weight. Just drag it through the grass. The Zoom Trick Worm was rigged wacky style and put a nail in the head. Fish it very slowly!

The Crappie fishing was good this week. The best water depth was 18 to 24 foot of water. The chartreuse and white Bubba’s Bait Crappie jigs were the best jigs to use in the deeper water. I found that we did not have to use minnows this week the jig did great.

The White Bass have started to migrate from the 30 + foot water to the 20 to 24 foot of water and are starting to feed. We found the white with black strip Joe Spaits ½-ounce Flash Tail jigging spoon worked the best. You can find them on creek bends and main lake humps.

The Catfish were also hungry this week. They were found in 18 to 22 foot of water around old main lake trees. Punch bait worked the best this week and do not forget to bait your trees.
