Lake Fork Open draws entries from across U.S.

Mineola team sixth, Lindale duo second

Young fishermen from as far away as Florida and California participated in the Fourth Annual Lake Fork High School Open July 22 and 23. The big winners were the team of Austin Graham and Travis Anderson from Rains High School. The fishing duo had a two-day total of 14.75 pounds netting them the $6,000 first prize money.

Mineola anglers River Simonek and Tristan Rychlik were the sixth place finishers and received $500 in scholarship money hauling in a total of 11.95 pounds of bass. Lindale anglers Colt Oliver and Luke Hamby took home $4,000 for a second place finish turning in a total of 14.18 pounds of fish.

Lake Fork Chamber of Commerce Tournament Director Micheal Rogge was pleased with the results. “We had a lot of first timers and plenty of teams retuning for another year. The feedback received has been very positive,” Rogge noted.

Third place finishers Cameron Smalley and Sean Peppinger, Crandall, won $2,000 for their total weight effort of 12.86 pounds.

Fourth place winners from Highland Park were Logan Slaughter and Cody Fuller who turned in 12.21 pounds of fish wining $1,500.

Fifth place went to Cody Stefka and Ryan Michalsk and they took home $1,000, and seventh place went to Winnsboro’s Brantley Allen and Brayden Burch winning $500.

Quitman’s Langdon Bautista and Colin Brown came in 13th out of the 135 teams entered in the tournament.
