Lake Fork Weekly Fishing Report (April 22-28)

Posted

It was a beautiful week here at Lake Fork, TX. The winds finally laid down this week and the water temperatures stabilized at 68 degrees. The water clarity is still stained in most of the creeks and the main lake is trying to clear up.

The bass fishing is fair and the second phase of the spawn is underway. We had the best luck fishing the Buddy’s Custom Baits Stick O bait in the watermelon / candy / red color, wacky style. We dyed the tail chartreuse and put a nail in the head. We also used the Zoom watermelon red fluke on the split shot rig and the Carolina rig. Do not forget to dye the tail of the fluke chartreuse!

Now that we are approaching the end of the spawn, you need to pick up your Carolina rig. The bait that will help you to put more bass in the boat during the post spawn is the Buddy’s Custom Bait Boss Hog. The two main colors to use are watermelon red and watermelon/candy/red. Until the water clears up make sure you dye the tails chartreuse.

The crappie fishing was still good this week. They are in the shallow water spawning. It is simple, get out your bobber, 2/0 gold Aberdeen hook and a minnow. Look for them in 2 - 4 foot of water. Have a great time.

The white bass are on the move back to deeper water. Look for them in 18 to 20 feet of water on creek humps and main creek bends around structure. Joe Spaits ½-ounce Flash Tail Spoon in the Barr fish pattern will do the trick.

The catfish are still in shallow water spawning. Minnows were the bait of choice this week.

Have a great fishing week.
