The spring rainy season has started here at Lake Fork. This week was plagued with heavy rain and dense fog. The lake came up to full pool and all five flood gates are open.
The water temperatures are still in the lower 50s. Bass fishing was slow with the rising muddy water. A few good bass were caught on chartreuse and white chatter bait and black and blue Lake Fork Trophy Lures Hyper Stick. We rigged the black and blue Hyper Stick on a split shot rig in 4 foot of water. We noted that both of the above mention baits had to be moved very slowly.
As the weather stabilizes this week, you should see the spinnerbait, chatter bait and the Rayburn red Rattle Trap bite pick up.
The crappie fshing was also fare this week. We went to a black and chartreuse Bubba’s Bait Crappie jig tipped with a minnow. The bite was very light. We are still finding them around the bridges and brush piles in 27 foot of water.
The white bass bite was pretty good this week. We used Bubba’s Bait white with orange tail crappie jig tipped with a minnow. They were in 19 to 20 foot of water around the bridges.
No catfish report this week.
The bass spawn is almost here. Fish slow and have a safe fishing week.
