The weather cooperated this week cooling the water temperatures down to 83 to 85 degrees. The water clarity in the creeks is still stained and the main lake is starting to clear up again. The Bass fishing was good this week with good numbers of Bass taken on Wacky worms and Rattle Traps. Once again the Zoom chartreuse-pumpkin Trick Worm rigged wacky style was the top producer. We fished the wacky rig in the thick duck week and around isolated Hydrilla. The chrome with black back Rattle Trap worked good in 26 to 30 foot of water by using a very erratic retrieve. You will catch a few White Bass that way also. We gave our Duckett rods and ABU Garcia Orra SX reels a good work out this week. They are a great combination you need to try them!

The White Bass are still scattered out all over the lake. We caught them on chrome with a black rattle traps and Joe Spaits white with black strip Flashtail ½ ounce spoon. Look for them in 22 – 24 foot of water over brush piles and on old road beds.

A few Crappies were being caught this week but overall the Crappie fishing was slow. The 515 west bridge is a good place to find a few and use minnows.

You catfish fishermen are amazing. There is not a day goes by that I don’t idle by our cleaning station that somebody is not cleaning a large mess of catfish. Yes guys and gals there still biting. Punch bait is still the best bait to use.

The Big Bass Splash is just around the corner. It is the 16th, 17th and 18th of September. Have a safe fishing week and keep a tight line.
