Dear editor:
It is my understanding that the seasonal agreement between the Soccer Association and Mineola Civic Center regarding rental of fields may be cancelled. I’ve always thought that the civic center, playground, soccer fields and tennis courts was an excellent resource for local residents. It would be a shame if this resource was no longer available to local residents and would seem short-sighted to cancel a sure source of revenue from the soccer association. I understand that this is a privately owned business and that they seek visitors to Mineola to generate revenue to local businesses, but seeking a possible revenue from visitors while eliminating sure income from local residents and eliminating good will with local residents seems a foolish decision. I pray they will make the correct decision in regards to soccer for local youth.
Sincerely,
Karen R. Van Cleave
