Dear Editor:

It is very sad that the community around Alba-Golden School didn’t think enough of the school to pass the recent bond election. I guess the good people of Mineola respect their school so they passed their bond and now Mineola ISD can proceed with the projects that the bond was going to fund. But the Alba-Golden school will have to do without, which means that the elementary school will get more crowded, the agriculture building which houses both the woodworking classes and the welding classes will continue to operate in an unsafe environment, and the out-of-date gym will again be over crowded with guests wanting to watch volleyball and basketball games. In addition, the coaches will have to work around the limitations so their teams will have to practice at strange times in order to enable all the teams, from 7th grade girls and boys teams up through varsity girls and boys teams, to find time to practice.

A committee spent countless hours determining the needs of the school before this bond election was set.  But the community determined that they knew best.  How sad.
