Louise Dawson Elston, 96, of Mineola passed away on March 4, 2022 in Quitman. She was born on June 22, 1925 in Canton, Ill. to Harry Earle and Inez Goldie Dawson. Mrs. Elston was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Mineola. She worked for International Harvester while her husband honorably served in the Army during WWII. She was a woman who wore many hats. She was a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir at church, volunteer for the Kindness Kottage in Mineola and Cub Scout leader. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and painting. She cherished and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

Mrs. Elston was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, C.W. Elston, two brothers and two sisters.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are daughter, Elizabeth (Betsy) Snethen of Corinth; sons, Robin Elston and wife Brenda Adams Elston of Bedford and Richard Dawson Elston of Mineola; grandchildren, Kathy Snethen Isaacs and husband Brian of Clermont, Fla., Staff Sgt. David Snethen and wife Jennifer of Converse, Stacey Elston George and husband Greg of Bedford, Lindsay Elston Askins and husband Dustin of Issaquah, Wash., Leslie (Amber) Snethen of Corinth, Trevor Elston of Seattle, Wash., Joshua Elston of Mineola; and 14 great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at First United Methodist Church of Mineola, main sanctuary, at 2 p.m., Rev. Paul Thomasson conducting.
