MARGARET "PEGGY" KOVACS

1942-2018

A celebration of life service for Margaret “Peggy” Kovacs, 76, of Quitman, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at Spur On Ministries with Brother Mike Fletcher officiating. 

Margaret Lois Kovacs, “Peggy,” was born Jan. 10, 1942, in Great Barrington, Mass., to the late Gordon and Ellen Teresa (Lyons) Hamm.  Peggy was a teacher’s aide for Fort Lowell Elementary School in Tucson, Az., for many years.  She also volunteered for Casa de los Niños, Salpointe Thrift Store, and was active at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Tucson. She loved working with children and later ran an in-home daycare for many years.  In October 2015, she moved from Vancouver, Wash.,  to Quitman and attended Spur On Ministries.

Peggy passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018 in Mineola. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew E. Kovacs in April 2018; parents, Gordon and Ellen Hamm; daughter, Ellen Teresa Kovacs; and one brother, James Haggerty.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Andrew Gordon Kovacs of Vancouver, Wash.; two daughters, Karen Beth Hallonquist of Quitman and Anne Margaret Trimble of Ashland, Ore.; two brothers, Gordon Hamm of Monterey, MA, and Wayne Hamm of Louisville, Colo.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
