Services for Mary Elizabeth McBurnett Akin, 97, were July 26 at First Christian Church in Mineola with Rev. Rick Son officiating.
She died July 21, 2019.
She was born March 19, 1922, in Grand Saline to the late James T. York and Irline York.
Elizabeth and her lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Carrie Dean, owned a drapery shop in Mineola for many years. Elizabeth also volunteered at the Christus Mother Frances-Ross Breast Cancer Center. Throughout her life, dancing was her passion.
She was preceded in death by husbands: Harry McBurnet, and Jim Akin; a son, David McBurnett; and brother, James T. York,Jr.
She is survived by sons Ralph McBurnett and Mark McBurnett; daughter, Martha Joiner; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
