Mary Sue Thompson 1924-2018

COKE-Funeral services for Mary Sue Thompson, 94 of Coke, were held December 21, 2018 with Fred Morrow officiating.

Burial followed at Myrtle Springs Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson died December 18, 2018 at her home. She was born November 21, 1924 to Julius and Lula May Kirkland.

She was a homemaker and worked for dick Hurley’s country store in Yantis for 10 years. She was chairman of the board for Farm Service Agency for many years and was a member of Myrtle Springs Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 33 years, James Thompson, Sr.; and one grandson, James Wilson Thompson III.

Survivors include her four sons, James Wilson Thompson Jr. of Winnsboro, Jo Franklin Thompson of Garland, Billye Gene Thompson of Coke and Bobby Clayton Thompson of Coke; two daughters, Bartha Sharp of Coke and Sandra Sue Bailey of Coke; brother, Joe Allen Kirkland of Alexandria, Ala.; 11 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and extended family.
