The complete renovation of McDonald’s in Mineola was celebrated Wednesday with a chamber of commerce ribbon cutting. The remodel includes dining areas (decorated with a Mineola street map mural) and restrooms, new kitchen equipment and the addition of self-ordering kiosks, as well as a completely different outside facade. A patio replaced the playland. Kevin and Jeaneane Lilly purchased the Mineola restaurant in January, as well as four others, and now own 23 McDonalds throughout East Texas, including Lindale, Tyler, Kilgore and Palestine. The renovation cost “a little over three-quarters of a million dollars,” Lilly said of his Mineola restaurant which employs about 50 to 55 people. Lilly is on the right side of his wife, Jeaneane, who is snipping the ribbon. On her left is Dalton Harris, a Mineola High School band senior, who received a $1,000 scholarship from the Lilly Foundation and McDonald’s.
