McGough returning to Mineola ISD board

Jay McGough will return to the Mineola ISD school board while Alba-Golden and Yantis school boards will each have two new members according to the unofficial results of Saturday’s municipal elections.

McGough had resigned after being elected to a second term so his wife could be considered for a district position.

Todd Morgan was appointed to the unexpired term, and McGough won the final year of the term by a 137-50 margin.

Brad Lennon was reelected to the Alba-Golden board with 108 votes. Also earning seats were Kris Quintana with 92 votes and Jessica Christian with 91. Chad Dailey received 23.

Wynne Sellers with 89 votes and Ryan Colby Ogle with 48 won seats on the Yantis school board. Incumbent Jennifer McKeever was one vote shy of reelection with 47 votes, Justin Glenn had 39 and Stacey Batchelor 19.

Winnsboro had the only city council election in the county.

Brenda Morey with 118 votes and Trevor King with 109 won the two seats. Stephen Boorman received 96, Cory Miller 75 and Chiquita Baptist 35.

Andrea Newsom was unopposed for mayor.

Jay Murdock won Place 2 on the Winnsboro school board with 208 votes to 205 for Kristal Ross Spencer and 72 for Wayne Cox.

Place 3 went to Kristie Amason with 331 votes to 147 for Daniel Miller.
