Meet the Jackets has new twist

This year Meet the Jackets will include not only introductions of football players and others representing the school, but the chance to earn money for the school by driving a new vehicle.

The event is planned from 1 to 5 p.m. and includes Longhorn Ford’s Drive 4UR School program. Anyone with a driver’s license can test drive a new Mustang, Explorer or other Ford vehicle and the dealership will donate $20 to the Mineola school programs.

During this time there will be free drinks, food, Koni Ice and booths for families to visit. The school will also host clinics for parents and children to take photos with students and work out with them on the field. Clinics scheduled are Cheerleaders, 1-2 p.m.; Marching Band 2-3 and football and soccer 3-4.

The event will culminate at 4 p.m. in the stands when all fall athletes, coaches, cheerleaders and band members will be recognized. Athletic Director Luke Blackwell will address the crowd at that time as the Yellowjackets prepare to start football season.
