MHS band director honored by alma mater

MHS band director honored by alma mater
Chris Brannan, director of bands for Mineola ISD, has been named the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts 2020 Ambassador at Texas A&M Commerce.
He received his bachelor of science in 1994 from East Texas State University and was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi as an undergraduate.
He began his teaching career as the middle school band director for Clarksville ISD. During his seven years at Clarksville, and under his direction, the middle school and high school bands both achieved their first-ever UIL Sweepstakes Awards.
He made the move to Queen City in 2001 as director of bands. During his 11 years at Queen City, the band achieved a silver medal and three state gold medals at the UIL State Marching Championships, along with two Texas Music Educators Association honor bands.
Chris is in his 25th year of teaching and seventh year as the director of bands for Mineola ISD. The Mineola program has experienced success recently with six consecutive UIL Sweepstakes Awards. The marching band was the 2015 state 3A bronze medalist, the 2017 and 2019 UIL state gold medalist and state OPS winner in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The Mineola band was also a Sudler Shield recipient in 2019.
