MHS girls take district golf crown; QHS’ Dobbs takes individual title
The Mineola girls golf team became district champions April 8 with a dominant victory at the District 12-3A tournament. Lady Jackets Melea Bedford, Valerie Garcia, Ava Johnson, Makayla Mahlstadt and Sunni Ruffin had a great day at The Links at Land’s End.

MHS girls take district golf crown; QHS’ Dobbs takes individual title
The Mineola girls golf team became district champions April 8 with a dominant victory at the District 12-3A tournament. Lady Jackets Melea Bedford, Valerie Garcia, Ava Johnson, Makayla Mahlstadt and Sunni Ruffin had a great day at The Links at Land’s End.
Johnson and Mahlstadt placed second and third in the individual competition with 27-hole scores of 149 and 157, respectively. Abigail Dobbs of Quitman took the girls individual title with a combined score of 140. The Quitman girls team placed second.
Rains High School took the boys team championship. Quitman finished second. J.T. Rucker of Grand Saline secured the boys individual title. Quitman’s Josh Medlin earned the silver medal, finishing three strokes behind Rucker.
The UIL Regional tournament will be hosted under the cognizance of Tyler Junior College at Oak Hurst Golf Course in Bullard, April 22-25.
