The Quitman City Council meets January 22, at 7 p.m. in council chambers. The Pilot Club Chili Cook-off will be Friday January 30 at Carroll Green Civic Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Quitman City Council meets January 22, at 7 p.m. in council chambers.

The Pilot Club Chili Cook-off will be Friday January 30 at Carroll Green Civic Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will be $10 for adults, $5 for kids with children under five eating free.

The 10th Annual Quitman Baseball Alumni game will be held February 21 at Tom Brady Field. There will be a home run derby and a 10 inning game. The cost is $5 for the home run derby and $25 for the game. Activites will begin at 10 a.m. David Seago and Tony Gilbreath will be honored for their years in education and coaching. There will also be a Sam White Stew. We will have more information in next week's Democrat. For further information about the game, contact Coach Hayland Hardy at 903-569-7479. Yantis High School will be celebrating Homecoming 2015 this Friday night at the gym. The basketball teams will be facing Avinger. The Lady Owls will tip-off at 6 p.m. and the Owls will follow.

There will be a fundraiser for Arturo Banda January 27 from 4 p.m.; to 9 p.m. at Cici's in Tyler at 223 NNW Loop 323. If you are in Quitman and would like to take part, pizza will be delivered to the Hogg City Park parking area at 5 pm. that after noon. Contact 903-638-1503.

Quitman Public Library continues GED classes on Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Quitman Arboretum will be hosting a Propagation workshop Saturday, January 31. The workshop is being conducted by the Friends of the Arboretum and Wood County Master Gardener Propagation specialist. There is limited space so please contact Pam Riley at 903-466-4327 or you can check it out at .
