The Forever Young Activity Center (FYAC) is wrapping up a busy September and looking forward to October. The annual garage sale and bake sale will be held this week beginning Thursday, September 24, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, September 25, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is an important fundraiser for the group and they encourage everyone to contribute if possible. There will be a potato bar Friday from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. and don't forget Bingo Friday evening at 7 p.m.

Coming up in October the FYAC will be hosting a Health Fair Thursday, October 8. The Supper Club and Halloween Costume contest will be Saturday, October 17, and Texas Hold 'Em Wednesday, October 21.

The Wood County Democrat Club will meet Thursday September 24, in JOY Hall at First United Methodist Church Quitman. Pot luck dinner is at 6 p.m. followed by the program and business meeting. Contact club President Chuck Denson at 903-383-7036 for further details.

Make plans now for a street dance in downtown Quitman on the square, Friday, October 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The New Scenic Association of Quitman is sponsoring the family oriented event. Local favorite Chris Bevill and the Spur On Band will provide the entertainment for the evening. There will be fun, food, and games for the whole family.
