Mineola council sells city lots to power company
AEP-SWEPCO was high bidder for property in South Mineola last week.
The electrical services company bid $30,000 for some lots adjacent to its electrical substation on South St.
The company had approached the city about selling the lots so that it could upgrade its antiquated infrastructure.
The Mineola Community Bank also submitted a bid.
AEP-SWEPCO had previously indicated that moving the substation to another location would be far more expensive.
The sale is for two lots and one partial lot.
City Manager Mercy Rushing said she hopes the sale can be closed by Christmas, once a survey can be completed.
