Mineola drops second round playoff match

Tatum defeated Mineola in straight sets Monday in the state high school volleyball playoffs.

The area round contest was played at Whitehouse, with Tatum winning 25-19, 25-15, 25-9 to advance to the third round.

Mineola had earned a spot in the area game with last week's four-game bidistrict win over Hooks.

In other sports news Monday night, Alba-Golden lost its district football game to Celeste 31-6.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
