Mineola Fire Department called as bonfire gets lit too soon

Mineola Fire Department calls for the past two weeks included:

Brush or grass fires – Oct. 25 at 2:57 p.m. the department assisted Lindale Fire Department with their plow, Oct. 18 at 12:56 p.m. to FM 1255 to assist Grand Saline Fire Department with a four-acre fire and at 3:18 p.m. to County Road 3875 in Mineola to assist Hainesville with a four- to five-acre fire;

Grass fires – Oct. 19 to a small fire next to a power pole was reported on North Highway 69; Oct. 24 – a three-acre fire started from a brush pile at 1:17 p.m. and at 2:42 p.m. there was s small fire started from a blown transformer on east Highway 80 and to CR 2745 at 3:15 p.m. to a small unattended fire;

Natural vegetation fire – The school bonfire was started again at 6 p.m. Public works department employees pushed up the debris pile. Debris was still smoldering from the last time it was lit and it was just a small fire;

Medical assists – The department provided medical assistance on Oct. 22 to Northeast Loop 564 and to Spring Lake Drive; on Oct. 23 to East Highway 80 and on Oct. 25 to Bowdoin Street and County Road 2840, on Oct. 12 to 1000 West Loop 564 and to 533 East Broad Street, Oct. 15 to Mimosa Street and Oct. 17 to East McDonald Street,

Vehicle accidents with no injuries – the department was called to Highway 69 and FM 779 near Golden on Oct. 20 at 4:27 p.m., on Oct. 15 to East Highway 80 and Loop 564, Oct. 17 to FM 49;

Lock-in – Oct. 14 to 135 Northeast Loop 564 to get a child out of a locked vehicle.
