The Quitman Police Department and Quitman Municipal Court will begin an aggressive 'Warrant Round-Up' on the weekend of Friday, May 17.

The Quitman Municipal Court currently has about 750 outstanding warrants on about 400 different individuals. A current list of outstanding warrants is available on the City of Quitman website at . The name of anyone with an outstanding warrant (as of May 10) will also be published in the Wood County Democrat on May 15th.

If you have an outstanding warrant, you may make payment arrangements to place the warrant on hold and prevent your arrest. You may also have the warrant cleared by paying the balance in full. If you are arrested for the warrant, you could have to settle the balance in full prior to being released.

Payment may be brought to the Court at 401 E. Goode Street or mailed to P.O. Box 1855, Quitman, TX 75783. Cash, money orders, or cashier's checks are ac- cepted. Credit/debit cards are accepted with an additional 4% handling fee, but must be presented in person by the cardholder. No personal checks are accepted. You may contact the court at (903) 763- 2223 for more information on warrants.

The Quitman Police Department will be identifying at least 75 high-priority warrants in the local area and aggressively pursuing these individuals at known home, work, and other addresses until they are found and the warrants are cleared. The PD will also be sending information on another 75 high-priority warrants to other law enforcement agencies throughout the state for their assistance during the Warrant Round-up.

QPD will also be working any warrants it receives information on from another agency. May 17 is just the beginning of this effort to clear outstanding warrants. If you have information on someone who has an outstanding warrant, please contact the Quitman Police Department at (903)-763-4410.
