Quitman Garden Club begins annual Geranium sale
The Quitman Garden Club kicked off its single fundraiser of the year with a bang at the February meeting.
Decades ago, the Quitman Garden Club started the tradition of selling red geraniums each spring in order to fund its many community projects- including the Quitman Library gardens, Quitman High School scholarships, the Arbor Day project, and contributions to charities like the East Texas Food Bank, Child Advocacy Center, and the Charitable Relief Fund of the Fire Department.
"We appreciate all the support the community provides for this fundraiser", said Jean Fox, cochair of the committee.
Garden Club members will be canvassing local businesses, clubs, churches, friends, family and neighbors in the coming weeks, selling beautiful red geraniums for just $7.00 each.
"The last day to order is March 17", Fox said. "But don't wait until the last day. Order early!"
Orders can also be taken via e-mail at or by calling Fox directly at 903-763-8353. All orders must be prepaid. Geraniums will be delivered on March 26th. Home or business delivery is standard at no extra cost.
The Quitman Garden Club is a non-profit (501c3) charitable organization that has been active in the community since 1946.
