Great things are happening at the Mineola Memorial Library. Toddler story time continues, preschool story time is back, Homeschool Heroes is back and youth advisory council is back. The Crafting Club is well attended as are the book clubs that meet in the library.

We have a pumpkin disguise contest going on. You know, pumpkins have a hard time during October/November. People want to decorate them and use them for cooking. Here is a chance for you to create a disguise (on paper) for the pumpkins. Stop by the library and pick up a form, return your not-a-pumpkin to us by Oct. 24. We’ll display your entry and announce winners on Oct. 29.

We also have a display case full of items you might see this time of year. We also have a sheet asking you to find specific items in the display case. Work on this with your family and when you are finished, bring the form to the front desk for a reward.

Homeschool Heroes will meet Friday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. This is a chance for homeschool families to meet each other, get acquainted and participate in an activity together. The Oct. 18 activity is recognition of Pizza Month.

East Texas Perfictionist Book Club is reading “In the Time of Butterflies” by Julia Alvarez. They will meet Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss. This is earlier than their usual meeting date due to Halloween.

East Texas Library Friends are reading “Finding Dorothy” by Elizabeth Letts and will meet in Rains County on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m.

You can find the Mineola Memorial Library at 301 N. Pacific. We have a website, www.mineolalibrary.com. Find us on Facebook: Mineola Memorial Library (the one in Texas and with the cat).

Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit. We do not receive funds from the city or the county.

Your donations are not only appreciated but they may be tax-deductible.
