Mineola Memorial Library Notes

Posted

We had a fantastic summer and now we are into August. It is the quiet time of the year at the library. For 11 months we offer a variety of programs for our patrons to enjoy. These programs have included after school programming, Pre School Story Time, American Girls, Library Book Club, East Texas Library Friends Book Club, Computer Q & A, Summer Reading Programs, the Bookmobile, James Tatum, RC Hickman photographic display and the Trailblazer Science Trailer. The month of August we pause to gather our thoughts, review the previous 11 months, plan for the next 11 months and do inventory.

We will still offer American Girls Historical Reading club on Saturday at 10 a.m. and participants will need to register by today (Wednesday), for us to have enough supplies on hand.

Friends of the Mineola Memorial Library will reconvene in September on the 7th. Stay tuned for more details on this organization that supports the activities of the library.

We are saying good-bye to longtime employee Hannah. She is leaving to pursue her college degree. We will miss her and hope she will stop by when she is in town to say hello.

Chessie Cat is doing very well. She spent a week with Lake Country Animal Clinic and came back relaxed and sassier than ever.

A great big thank you to the volunteers who helped staff the library while I was on vacation. It is good to know so many are willing to help out. I really did enjoy my vacation but I am glad to be back.

We are continuing to receive new titles into our library. Check our catalog to see what is new. If you see something you like, you may reserve it via our on-line catalog. Simply log in with your patron number and your PIN (usually a phone number but sometimes people choose another PIN) then click on the book you would like to read and then click on reserve. You will be notified when the item is ready for you to pick up. Some titles are very popular and require a little patience.

Remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations are tax deductible.

Please, come by and visit us at 301 N. Pacific. Call with questions about library materials or programming to 903-569-2767. Visit our web page at www.mineolalibrary.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
