Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween! The library enjoyed wearing costumes and participating in the festivities.
Friends of the Mineola Memorial Library will meet on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Meredith Room of the Library. Guest speaker will be Dr. Bill Knight talking about his brother Jack and the book he has written about him. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Now our thoughts move towards the holidays. We are once again partnering with Caring & Sharing to put books into the stockings of children in the area. You may donate either books or cash for the purchase of books. We would like to fill up our display case with new books. Last year the library was able to collect 98 books.
Books for Fines is part of this collaboration. Brand new books for children ages birth to teenagers will be accepted in lieu of fine payments. The books collected will go to Caring & Sharing. Each book must be new and the price of the book will be deducted from the amount of fines owed. For example: you owe $3and you bring in a book worth $4.95 - your fine is resolved (we will not give change) and you have helped put a book in a child’s hands for Christmas. We will collect Books for Fines from Nov. 1 to Dec. 2.
Computer Q & A will be Saturdayat 9:30 a.m. Bring your questions and our volunteer IT person will try and answer your questions. Please, call the library (903-569-2767) and reserve a spot.
Nov. 9, beginning at 9 a.m. a representative from the University of Texas Health Science Center will be here to help with the Marketplace Enrollment. If you have questions, or if you need help navigating the website then this is the day to speak to someone in person.
The usual Library programs continue. American Girls will meet on Saturday, Nov. 11 at the regularly scheduled time of 10 a.m. The library is very aware this is also the Veterans’ Day Parade and some participants may need to leave early.
The library will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23. Programs for that week will be suspended as well. The library will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday of Thanksgiving week.
The Library now has a 3D printer. Please, be patient as we learn how to use it. We hope to unveil it to the Public towards the end of November.
The Library received a memorial for Rosemary Bell from David Land and Diane Pitkin.
