Happy holidays to everyone! We are thankful for each of our patrons who visit us in the Library. We are thankful for the kind words of encouragement and the fellowship.
We took off from programming during Thanksgiving week and now it is time to get back into the swing of things.
Time is winding down to sign up for health insurance through the Marketplace. If you need assistance navigating the marketplace system then come by the Mineola Memorial Library on Friday beginning at 9 a.m. UT Health Northeast is sending people to help you for free!
We are continuing to accept donations of brand new books for Caring & Sharing. If you would like to donate a book and you owe fines; the price of the book will be deducted from the amount of fines owed. We are also accepting cash donations for the purchase of new books for Caring & Sharing. Books are being collected for children ages birth to 13 years of age.
Our Annual Mineola Memorial Library Board meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. followed by the annual Open House from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Gib Maynard, Elvis tribute artist, will be providing music. All are welcome to attend these events. We will also be collecting new books for Caring & Sharing stockings if you would like to donate to this worthy endeavor.
There will not be a Friends of the Library meeting in December.
Regular programming will continue through Dec. 20. We will have the After School groups on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. for children in kindergarten through high school. Toddler Story Time will be on Wednesday mornings at 10:15 a.m. followed by Pre School Story Time at 11:15 a.m.
American Girls will meet on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. until about noon. You must sign-up in order to attend. You may call the Library or stop by the front desk to sign up and you must do so by Wednesday, Dec. 6.
The Library Book Club is reading “A Red Bird Christmas” by Fannie Flagg and will be discussing it on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. This should be a fun discussion and the next book will be announced at this meeting.
Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. will be the time for families to gather for Family Craft. This is a time for families to make something together.
Early reminder the library will be closed Saturday, Dec. 23 and again on Saturday Dec. 30 to allow our staff to have time with their families.

A memorial for Sylvia Vandiver and Rosemary Bell was given by the Friends of the Mineola Memorial Library and the Wilson family gave a memorial donation for Rosemary Bell.
