The rain has been a pain but we have had a lot of traffic in the library with people checking out things to do on rainy days. We appreciate your visits and are always glad to see you.
The Mineola Memorial Library is very thankful for the grant award from the Meredith Foundation. We appreciate them very much and the generosity of this foundation helps the library provide many services and materials to the people of Mineola.
Express Employment Professionals will host a Hiring Event on Thursday from 1 until 4 p.m. in the Meredith Room of the library. This is an opportunity to get hired with an area company. If you have questions, please call 903-592-9999.
During spring break, the library will host Playing to Grow. This is a time for children up to 3 years old to play with their parents. The parents will learn how playing actually helps develop young minds and prepares those minds for learning. Special guests will be at each session and available to answer questions about nutrition, speech, and development of their children. This program will be presented next Tuesday to Saturday, March 13 to 17, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. in the Meredith Room. Parents and caregivers will need to make arrangements for their older children during this time as this is dedicated to those children under the age of 3. If you have questions, please call the library and ask for Mrs. Pam. We think this will be a fun time for the participants and look forward to seeing you and hearing your feedback.
Family Craft Day will happen on Friday, March 16 at 1 p.m. This is a time for families to get together and make something to enjoy.
The Library Book Club will meet Thursday, March 15 at 6 p.m. to discuss “Mrs. Saint and the Defectives” by Julia Timmer. And that is not a typo; it is Defectives, as in something is not right. This is a story about a newly-divorced woman, her son, and her very interesting new neighbor. At the end of the meeting, the April book will be announced. Please, join us even if you have not read the book.
The East Texas Library Friends Book Club is now reading “A Gentleman in Moscow” by Amor Towles. This is a story about a man who has been placed under house arrest and cannot leave the attic rooms. Quite a downfall for a count used to luxuries. He meets a variety of people and learns what it means to be a man of purpose. This group will meet in April and details will be forthcoming.
We hope to see you soon. We are located at 301 N. Pacific in Mineola. You can call us at 903-569-2767. Or you may find us on the web at www.mineolalibrary.com.
