Pilots Alzheimers walk set for Nov. 3
The Pilot Club of Mineola will host their annual Alzheimer Memorial Walk on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 5:30 p.m. at the Mineola Civic Center.
Funds raised by the walk will be used to support local Pilot Club Alzheimer related projects and by the Alzheimer Association to fund research and support for caregivers in the Northeast Texas area.
Members of the Mineola High School Anchor Club have placed collection cans for the Pilot Club’s walk at cash registers in stores throughout Mineola. By donating extra change, the public can support the research funding for Alzheimer’s disease.
For the walk, groups with the most walkers in categories of Financial, Service Clubs, Education, Healthcare, Business and Open Class will be recognized with a trophy. There will also be a plaque for the person who raises the most money. T-shirts will be provided with each donation.
A balloon release memorial ceremony will be held honoring those who have Alzheimer’s disease or have died as a result of A.D. Participants in the walk will be served hot dogs and chili at the end of the walk. For more information contact Betty Curbow at 903-569-7097.
