• Thursday the Yantis One-Act Play will be performed in dinner theater at 7 p.m. A fried chicken dinner will be served and “Digging Up the Boys” will be performed. Contact the school for more information.

• The big top is coming to town. Carson & Barnes Circus will have two performances Friday, one at 4:30 and one at 7:30 p.m. at the Mineola Civic Center. (See story page 1A.)

• The Knights of Columbus at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mineola are hosting Fish Fry Fridays. There will be one this week at the church at 6 p.m. and cost is $10.

• The Mineola Junior Livestock Show is Saturday. (See story page 1A)

• Quitman will host Strikes for Cancer baseball game is Friday night when Quitman takes on Eustace at 7 p.m. in district 12-3A action. The softball team is at home too, hosting Kemp beginning at 6 p.m.

• Faith Baptist Church is having an “April Fools” Family Night Saturday with special speaker Nub Brown. There will be food, music, an ice cream bar and door prizes. The action begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Faith Baptist Student Center located at 403 Main Street next to the Quitman Police Department.

• Sew Fun is being offered by the Wood County Texas Extension Club on Monday from 2-5 p.m. at the county extension office. See story inside or call the office at 903-763-2924 to sign up. There is a $5 fee and some supplies are needed.

• Mineola Primary School Round Up starts next Wednesday from 1-7 p.m. It continues through Friday.
