April is here. Will it bring showers? Will we get an Easter snow? I cannot wait to find out. Although I am enjoying these cool temperatures, I am ready to have more sunny days than rainy days.

April 12 will bring the annual visit to the Library from the first grade class at Mineola Primary School. They will visit on a Friday afternoon, and we are looking forward to greeting them, sharing a story, and giving them a tour of the Library.

In the children’s area, for use at the Library, are several cloth books for our youngest to explore as well as two quilts. Each quilt is paired with a story, and they are not only beautiful, they also lend a way to enhance the story. We so appreciate the dear lady who shares her talent with us and our patrons.

The Mineola Memorial Library is currently reading Breathe, Annie, Breathe by Miranda Kenneally. This is a young adult book about a girl who has tragically lost her boyfriend and is training to run a marathon in his memory. Join us on April 18 for the discussion about this book at 6 p.m.

East Texas Library Friends are reading The Passenger by Lisa Lutz. This is a mystery/thriller with several twists and turns – some expected and several unexpected. The group will meet to discuss in May and more details will follow.

Library programs continue for infants through high school children. Check our website for more information on these weekly programs.

Crochet will meet Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. and again on April 27 at 10 a.m. This is a fun group of individuals who enjoy fellowship and crafting together. It is open to all. If you crochet, please join them. If you don’t crochet but would like to learn, please join them. If you do another craft and just want to work on your project with a fun group, please join them.

Just a heads up. April 15-18 is the Texas Library Association’s annual conference, and it will be in Austin this year. Two of our staff will attend, and several volunteers will be aiding the staff during this time. Staff always brings back some good ideas and information on everything from programs to products.

The Library received a donation from the Twentieth Century Club.
