We’ve gotten rain! Now maybe our gardens will grow.

We are still receiving new books at the library, but not as fast as they have in the past, because our vendors, like us, are dealing with COVID-19 and guidelines in their locations. Everybody is doing the best that they can with the circumstances they are in.

You may have noticed time limits for check-outs have changed. This began with the uncertainty of when we would be able to reopen and when people would be comfortable getting out and returning items. For the short-term, check-outs are for 28 days. When we return to regular hours, this will change.

We are going to keep our hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday until at least the end of July. After the library closes, we will have curbside from 2 to 4 p.m. We do ask you limit visits to one hour or less and only visit once per day. Limiting your visits allows others to visit the library and allows the staff time to keep up with cleaning.

If you cannot make it to the library before 2 p.m., you may still leave your returns in the book drops on the porch, and you may call us 903-569-2767 and let us know what you would like to pick up. You may also reserve items on-line.

Some of you may be getting reminder calls, post cards or letters about overdue items. This has been such an unsettled time, we felt we needed to send reminders. Some items were checked out in February/March and you may have forgotten they belong at the library.

We are watching the case numbers for Wood County and the city of Mineola. Those numbers will help determine our hours of operation. We are hoping to keep our hours through the end of July and then will see how the schools will reopen and what our numbers look like in August.

Thank you so very much for your patience during all of this. We appreciate our patrons understanding the one-hour rule, keeping their distance and wearing masks. We are all tired and frustrated and want to return to normal. To help reach normalcy, we need to continue to wash our hands, keep our distance and wear a mask.

Remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations are appreciated.
